چکیده

The ingress and egress nodes in an all-optical network have an electronic inand egress part and an optical switch. This work analyses various architectures for interconnection of the "electronic" and "optical" parts of the network in order to tolerate single optical switch failures and single optical link failures. The architectures studied are: non-redundant (reference), fault tolerant optical nodes and multihoming of the electronic inand egress to home node and all neighbouring nodes. The network topology studied is a two-dimensional torus network with symmetric traffic. Network configurations having comparable properties with regard to dependability and traffic transport capacity are compared with respect to link capacity and node switching requirements, i.e. cost.

Scalable Opto-Electronic Network (SOENet)

In applications such as processor-memory interconnect, I/O networks, and router switch fabrics, an interconnection network must be scalable to thousands of high-bandwidth terminals while at the same time being economical in small configurations and robust in the presence of single-point faults. Emerging optical technology enables new topologies by allowing links to cover large distances but at ...

Fault-tolerance schemes for WDM-based multiprocessor networks

Due to the difference in implementing network topologies in the optical and electronic domain, schemes to tolerate link failures in electronic implementations may not be ‘the most efficient ones for optical implementations of multiprocessor networks. Rerouting messages along alternate paths in the network topology is commonly used in electronically implemented networks to tolerate link failures...

FDMG: Fault detection method by using genetic algorithm in clustered wireless sensor networks

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of a large number of sensor nodes which are capable of sensing different environmental phenomena and sending the collected data to the base station or Sink. Since sensor nodes are made of cheap components and are deployed in remote and uncontrolled environments, they are prone to failure; thus, maintaining a network with its proper functions even when und...

A Class of Highly Scalable Optical Crossbar-Connected Interconnection Networks (SOCNs) for Parallel Computing Systems

ÐA class of highly scalable interconnect topologies called the Scalable Optical Crossbar-Connected Interconnection Networks (SOCNs) is proposed. This proposed class of networks combines the use of tunable Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSEL's), Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) and a scalable, hierarchical network architecture to implement large-scale optical crossbar based netw...

Parallel algorithms based on expander graphs for optical computing.

We consider the task of interconnecting processors to realize efficient parallel algorithms. We propose interconnecting processors using certain graphs called expander graphs, which can provide fast communication from any group of processors to the rest of the network. We show that these interconnections would result in a number of efficient parallel algorithms for sorting, routing, associative...
